Peace Oriental Teahouse,
Sindhorn
Peace Oriental Teahouse, Sindhorn explores a contemporary interpretation of traditional Chinese spatial and material references. The design draws from the Siheyuan courtyard, classical Chinese furniture, and the quiet character of rural herbal shops, translating these references into a restrained and contemporary interior.
The irregular plan is defined by two gently curving glass walls that meet at the entrance and lead the eye toward the tea bar. Dark walnut shelving, stone flooring, and the warm presence of timber create a tactile contrast, while the carefully detailed tea counter becomes the functional and visual heart of the space. A red curtain passage, marked by Peace’s Chinese character, introduces a subtle cultural gesture within the otherwise minimal composition.
The project is ultimately an exploration of architectural phenomena through material, form, detail, and human ritual. Rather than reproducing tradition literally, SPACY distils its essence into atmosphere—allowing the preparation and appreciation of tea to unfold through texture, proportion, movement, and spatial rhythm. The result is a quiet environment where cultural memory and contemporary experience meet.
