Coffee Space
Double // Slash, Coffee Space at Rama 3 explores a quiet dialogue between movement and stillness. Inspired by the Streamline Moderne language of the 1930s, the architecture translates aerodynamic curves, horizontal lines, and angled geometries into a contemporary coffee space. The name itself—“//”—becomes an architectural idea: two parallel lines creating a space in-between, suggesting flow, movement, continuity, and the possibility of pause.
At the heart of the design is an exploration of the phenomena of architecture—how light, material, movement, and human perception come together to shape space. Transparent glass, floating curved corners, reflected light, and natural materials continuously alter the relationship between inside and outside. As daylight shifts across the surfaces, architecture becomes less a fixed object and more a changing experience, allowing visitors to perceive space through atmosphere, texture, and movement.
Within the intensity of Bangkok, Double Slash creates a moment of stillness and contemplation. Its restrained material palette and carefully framed views allow the experience of coffee to become intertwined with the experience of space—where architecture is not simply seen but sensed. Reimagining a familiar coffee space, the project explores how architecture can resonate beyond the physical, transforming light, material, and human experience into a distinctive sense of place.
